So whether you made it to church this morning, or not, I thought I’d share with you a glimpse into a His House 10AM church service here at the wonderful campus of CMU:
Our lead minister, Josh, called in sick to our executive minister, Dave, saying that he wasn’t going to be able to make it. After looking at the notes over our Holy Spirit series that we’ve been walking through, Dave decided that it was a lot for him to comprehend and speak on in such a short amount of time. So he decided between receiving the call and the drive to church, he would let the Holy Spirit guide him in the words to share and let that be how it incorporates into our series.
One word kept coming to the forefront of Dave’s mind.
You may be wondering, “What word Danielle? Tell me more.”
Well here we go, try and keep up now.
(n.) regard with great respect; esteem; give value above other things
There are three ways in which we can, and should give honor.
1. Honor the Lord:
He is the one who deserves it above all else! We honor Him with his purity, with our words (they either speak life or death), and we an honor Him with our heart.
[ Colossians 3:23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. ]
2. Honor our authorities:
Dave gave us a challenge to give thanks, and recognize our Lead Minister Josh. He gave examples such as offering to clean his house, volunteer for babysitting while they go on a date night, things from the heart as such that would give action to our appreciation for all that he does for us as individuals and for the church as a whole.
[ Romans 12:10 Love one another with brotherly affection. Out do one another in showing honor. ]
3. Encourage one another:
Each individual is given unique gifts. We need to use our given gifts to give glory to God. Honor one another.
[ Ecclesiastes 12:13 That’s the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty. ]
[ Matthew 28:19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. ]
I am a Bible thumper.
I am a Jesus freak.
I am what I am and God loves me just the same.
He love you too, whatever you may be.
That is such a wonderful thing that to know, something that allows you to rest your head easy at night.
You are loved.
