So my major here at Central Michigan University is Fashion Merchandising & Design.
The Registered Student Organization (RSO) that is specifically for Fashion majors/minors is the Fashion Association of Merchandising & Design (FAMD), and I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to be a part of it!
FAMD is an organization has given me the opportunity to network with other fashion majors/minors and build friendships in the classroom as well as outside the classroom.
There are various volunteer opportunities within the organization, including going and visiting a local retirement home around the Mount Pleasant area.
There are often various speakers that come and talk during the meeting times. A few of these include businesses seeking applicants for internship and/or job opportunities. Others include professors and/or emerging entrepreneurs that are hoping to gain momentum from a popular RSO on campus that fits their target market.
This organization also has socials that allow for a more personal side of things. These include having a Black & White Potluck and the beginning of the year, a Halloween social, as well as an end of the year banquet.
The people in this organization are helpful for gathering information about the program, advocating for the upcoming Threads Fashion Show, run by students, showcasing students work. I am excited to see what else this organization has to offer me in the future years to come!
